Extraction is the first physical step in most water losses. The crew removes standing water and the water held in carpet and padding, because every gallon pulled out by pump is a gallon that never has to evaporate into the air of the house.
How the extraction works
Truck-mounted units use strong vacuum and a long hose to clear large volumes quickly. Portable extractors handle stairs, upper floors and tight rooms. Carpet is lifted at the edges and the pad is often pulled so the subfloor can be reached, while hard floors are cleared with squeegee heads.
Why speed counts in town
Piru's historic core includes older small buildings, and about half of occupied homes were rented at the 2020 census. Tenants and landlords both gain when the water is out quickly, before swollen baseboards and stained drywall turn a small claim into a repair project.
